Gösta Bruce Memorial Fund

The Gösta Bruce Memorial Fund was established after Gösta Bruce, President of the IPA, passed away in June 2010.

The IPA would like to thank Gösta Bruce's family for the initiative to establish the fund and for their donation. Thanks are also extended to all the contributors to the fund. Among these are the editor and the contributors of the book "Prosody. Theory and Experiment. Studies Presented to Gösta Bruce", that was published as a tribute to Gösta on the occasion of his 50th birthday, who donated the royalties of the book to the memorial fund.

The Gösta Bruce Memorial Fund depends on continuing donations! IPA members (and others) are asked to consider contributing to the Fund in order to increase the number of Gösta Bruce Scholarships that can be awarded to students.

IPA Student Awards

The IPA has established a support mechanism for its student members traveling to conferences to present their research: the IPA Student Awards. These Awards may be offered to student members who will present their research at international conferences, symposia and workshops which are (co-)sponsored by the IPA. Unemployed members, members under age 35, or members from low-income-level countries may also apply. The number and amount of IPA Student Awards will be decided separately for each conference, and will depend on such factors as the funds available at the time, the number of students attending the conference, and the costs to students of attending. Information about the availability of, and applying for, these Awards will be provided by conference organizers to student attendees.

Information about IPA Student Awards for specific conferences will be posted in the News section of the website.

IPA Student Mobility Programme

The IPA Student Mobility Programme supports the physical mobility of IPA student members to visit research laboratories that specialize in their area of study. It subsidizes travel and accommodation costs for a minimum two-week stay at the host institution. This programme is primarily aimed at student members from countries with limited funding resources.

The primary goal of the programme is to offer students the opportunity to visit a research laboratory abroad to conduct a specific, well-defined project (which may include a pilot project). The programme benefits students by enabling them to meet other researchers, build academic networks, acquire knowledge and skills in new experimental techniques and data analysis methods, present their work to a broader audience, and exchange knowledge and ideas on common research areas. Additionally, it fosters future collaborations across different laboratories and countries.
