IPA Student Awards given to six student members

Three student members were given IPA Student Awards for the 1st International Symposium on Applied Phonetics (ISAPh2016) in Nagoya Japan, 25-28 March: Quandeel Hussain (Macquarie University, Australia, “How not to teach phonetics”), Michelle Ma Ka Wah (Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan, “Phonetic education in Hong Kong”), and Renshuang Song (Renmin University, China, “Using Venn diagram and sensory integration in Chinese EFL Learners' pronunciation drill”).

Three student members have IPA Student Awards for Speech Prosody 2016 in Boston, 31 May – 3 June: Clara Huttenlauch (University of Konstanz, “The intonation of echo wh-questions in Ecuadorian Spanish”), Anna Jespersen (University of Cambridge, “A first look at declarative rises as markers of ethnicity in Sydney”), and Jixing Li (Cornell University, “Early prosodic manifestations of disfluency”).
