We uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, and fairness, ensuring that all submissions are treated with respect and that the scholarly record is trustworthy and accurate.
1. Authorship and Contributions
Authorship Criteria: Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All individuals who contributed to the work must be appropriately credited, and all listed authors must agree to the submission.
Contributions: Contributions should be clearly documented, ensuring that all individuals who made substantial contributions are recognized.
2. Originality and Plagiarism
Original Research: Submissions to the ICPhS proceedings must be original works that have not been previously published. Authors must properly cite all sources and ensure that their work does not infringe upon the rights of others.
Plagiarism Policy: The use of others’ work without proper citation, including text, data, and ideas, is strictly prohibited. Submissions found to contain plagiarized material will be rejected, and further actions may be taken in accordance with the ethical guidelines.
3. Data Integrity
Accurate Reporting: Authors are expected to present their findings accurately and transparently, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation. Data and methodologies must be fully disclosed, allowing for reproducibility.
Data Sharing: Authors are encouraged to make data available in public repositories when appropriate.
4. Conflict of Interest
Disclosure: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that could influence their work or the review process. Full transparency is required to maintain the integrity of the publication.
Management of Conflicts: The Scientific Programme Committee will manage disclosed conflicts to ensure that they do not affect the fairness of the review process.
5. Confidentiality
Peer Review Process: Paper evaluation is based on a double-blind peer review system. Reviewers and authors must respect the confidentiality of the review process and refrain from disclosing any details of the submission or the review.
Anonymity: The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential to ensure an unbiased review process.
6. Peer Review Process
Review Standards: All submissions are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and are expected to provide unbiased, constructive, and timely feedback.
Reviewer Responsibilities: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline to review any submission where such conflicts exist. They must also maintain the confidentiality of the submission and not use information obtained during the review process for personal advantage.
7. Ethical Research Practices
Human and Animal Research: Research involving human participants or animals must adhere to ethical standards and obtain appropriate Ethics Committee approval. Authors must include statements confirming ethical approval and participant consent where applicable.
Participant Privacy: Authors must ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all research participants, safeguarding personal data in accordance with relevant regulations.
8. Handling of Ethical Violations
Allegations of Misconduct: Any allegations of ethical violations, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or inappropriate authorship practices, will be investigated thoroughly. The IPA and conference organizers will convene their Ethics Committee to decide on appropriate action.
Retractions: Submissions found to violate ethical standards will be retracted, and authors may be barred from future submissions.
9. Transparency and Accountability
Transparent Methodologies: Authors are encouraged to be transparent about their research methods, data availability, and any potential limitations of their studies.
Accountability: Authors, reviewers, and editors share the responsibility of ensuring that all work published adheres to the highest ethical standards. They are committed to correcting any errors promptly and ensuring the reliability of the published content.
No-show policy: The IPA enforces the No-show policy for conference papers. Any paper accepted into the technical program but not presented on-site may be withdrawn from the official ICPhS proceedings.
