Domains of Temporal Control in Speech and Language from Utterance to Segment (Discussion Paper)

With reference to Sagisaka's plenary paper (p.1-6) the following issues of temporal control in speech and language are discussed: (1) the relationship between timing, duration and rhythm, (2) the distinction between units of duration and temporal effects of control parameters over varying domains, (3) the rhythm types of STRESS-TIMING, SYLLABLE-TIMING, MORA-TIMING, (4) timing in speech perception.
